On Thursday, July 17th AWB actors took part in a panel discussion for campers at the Sports and Service Mission 5 & 2 Camp at SS. Colman – John Neumann School in Bryn Mawr, PA. We presented to eighty campers ages 5 to 12. Many of the panelists were school age and could relate to the campers. The panel discussion was a disability awareness program and focused on one’s ability. Each panelist was asked a variety of questions such as- what are your goals in life, what is your favorite desert, favorite TV show to watch, and best place you’ve ever visited. The panelists discussed the worst and best things a stranger can do when they meet someone with a disability for the first time, which was very impactful for the campers. The campers learned that people with disabilities have many abilities. Our panelists and campers had many similar interests, as well.
