Fiddler on the Roof is a musical that was set in Tsarist Russia in 1905. The story focus is on Tevye, the father of five daughters and his attempts to keep his Jewish traditions deep rotted in his family. He must learn to adapt with each of his three daughters strong willed actions to marry and move further away from the fathers customs of faith and with the edict of the Tsar that evicts the Jews from their village.
Fiddler on the Roof opened on Broadway in 1964 and was the longest running musical on Broadway for ten years. The play was nominated for 10 tony awards, Best Musical, score, book, direction and choreography. It was so popular that in spawned four Broadway revivals and a film adaption in 1971.
