2025 AWB Masters Program

AWB offers our annual master’s program, which is an advanced class that focuses more in depth on an aspect of theatre. The four-day program was held in June at Inglis in Philadelphia. The theme of this year’s program was all about mime, imagination, and improvisation. The goal of the program was for the actors to increase their skill set to help them learn new ways of communication and movement. Actors discovered ways to feel more comfortable on stage and the ability to improvise and cope with whatever might happen in a live performance.

The year’s guest artist was T Valada Viars who is an actor, director, and imagination specialist from Los Angles. T led the performers in a wide array of both verbal and nonverbal exercises that captivated and inspired the participants. The final showcase was designed to have the audience experience samples of the work that was done throughout the workshop. The program was improvisationally based and required audience participation, something that was never done before in our previous programs.

Eric Trobman, AWB Senior Actor and Masters participant, said, “[My] experience at this year’s Master’s program was one of enjoyment and kindness. Learning how to soften one’s heart and smile has helped me free myself from the weight and be able to perform and express my thoughts and emotions. [Overall], this year’s AWB Master’s program allowed all of us to express ourselves in ways we could not have imagined.”

AWB relies on volunteers.
The first Sunday of every month volunteers assist our actors at workshops as they learn their lines and rehearse their parts. Our most dedicated volunteers support our actors throughout the year and are a part of the yearly performance. There are opportunities for people who want a creative outlet through set design, props and costume development. Great for early teens, adults and seniors!
