AWB Connects
At AWB, our Connects Program aims to bring together our actors and families, serving as a social outlet to foster friendships outside of rehearsals and performances.
Each week, we host virtual weekly zoom socials that we have dubbed TGIF Socials where our actors can catch up, play games, or just hang out after a long week. Our Parents Resource Group also virtually meets once a month, serving as a space for parents and caregivers to connect and share resources. And of course, through the Connects program, we facilitate outings for our actors to engage with the surrounding community as well as with each other
This fall has been a busy (and super fun) season for Connects. We kicked things off with a bowling outing at Laurel Lanes in New Jersey, and it was a total hit! Our very own AWB Senior actor, Elizabeth Seaman — who happens to be a Special Olympics champion bowler — gave everyone some pro tips and coaching. We had so much fun cheering each other on and celebrating every strike and spare!

Then came Halloween, and since it landed on a Friday this year, our social turned into our annual Halloween Party! We had trivia, karaoke, and plenty of costumes — both actors and staff really got into the spirit. The best part was watching everyone singing their hearts out and showing off their Halloween spirit.
To add onto our arsenal of activities, we recently teamed up with Arts Ability, a wonderful program for women with disabilities. Together, we played theatre games and sang karaoke. It was such a heartwarming experience — the group loved learning about acting, and our actors and staff had a blast sharing what they love.

AWB relies on volunteers.
The first Sunday of every month volunteers assist our actors at workshops as they learn their lines and rehearse their parts. Our most dedicated volunteers support our actors throughout the year and are a part of the yearly performance. There are opportunities for people who want a creative outlet through set design, props and costume development. Great for early teens, adults and seniors!
