After more than 20 years as Acting Without Boundaries’ Artistic Director, Neill Hartley is retiring from his role and transitioning to Artistic Director Emeritus. Neill has been part of AWB since the very beginning, first joining as a volunteer before stepping into the role that would help shape the organization into what it is today.

Bringing decades of experience as an actor, director, and professor in the Philadelphia theatre community, Neill has been an extraordinary leader, mentor, and advocate for our performers. From the start, he recognized our actors for their abilities rather than their disabilities, treating each performer as a true professional and creating productions that highlighted their unique talents and strengths.

Neill’s patience, kindness, and dedication have made a lasting impact on countless actors and families over the years. He has always created a welcoming environment for new performers and has an incredible gift for matching each actor with the role best suited for them. His loyalty, creativity, and compassionate leadership have helped AWB grow into the vibrant and empowering community it is today.

While Neill will certainly be missed in his current role, we are grateful that he will remain involved with AWB through programs such as the Masters Program. He will always hold a special place in the hearts of our actors, families, and staff. Congratulations, Neill, and thank you for your remarkable twenty-one years of leadership and dedication to AWB.

AWB relies on volunteers.

The first Sunday of every month volunteers assist our actors at workshops as they learn their lines and rehearse their parts. Our most dedicated volunteers support our actors throughout the year and are a part of the yearly performance. There are opportunities for people who want a creative outlet through set design, props and costume development. Great for early teens, adults and seniors!

Congratulations, Neill Hartley
